    Description

Edwardian sterling silver cereal bowl on plate. Made by Gorham in Providence, ca. 1910. The bowl has straight sides and molded rim. The plate has plain well and molded rim.
Scenes from nursery rhymes acid-etched on both pieces. On the bowl are frames depicting Jack Sprat, Little Jack Horner, Simple Simon, Tom the Piper's Son, and Mary kneeling before her little lamb. On plate the frames includes scenes from Jack and Jill, Red Riding Hood, and Three Little Pigs. A sweet set with lots of smiling and benign animals. Bowl has vacant cartouche for engraving the name of the most special animal of all.
The bowl is based on a design first produced by Kerr in Newark (model no. 1399). Gorham acquired Kerr in 1906.
Fully marked including model no. 5176/2.
