Vintage framed picture of young St. Therese of Lisieux with a golden halo around her head, holding beautiful bouquet of pink roses and crucifix. St. Therese is known as the "Little Flower" which is why she is pictured with the roses. She is one of the most popular Saints of the history of the Roman Catholic Church. The depth of her spirituality, of which she said "my way is all confidence and love" has inspired many believers. Perhaps hanging on your wall she will continue to inspire more.
This classic piece of Catholic icon art is stunning, brightly colored, and a captivating print with tastefully painted wood gesso carved frame.
Art is not under glass. Frame has hanging hooks on back but no wire.
Measures about 22.75" tall and 18.5" wide.
Dated Feb 10th 1959 on back of frame. I assume this is the date it was placed in the frame.
Typically gesso frames also would normally be dated to the 1920s / 1930s, so maybe this was a repair date?
I do not know if this is also the age of the print.
This print is unsigned by the original artist.
Other sources date this print the to mid 1800s.
Used vintage condition. There are signs of age, wear and some nicks / scuffs here and there on both the print and frame. As pictured.
